Inspired by this vid:
I did a little experiment. At work I recorded myself singing the bass line to The Police's "Synchronicity II" and visualized myself playing it on the bass and guessing at the pitch. When I got home I played the recording and matched it to the real bass and lo and behold, even though slightly sharp, I had the notes right. Mind blown.
