Audio / video syncing

Hello

I would need some help regarding the video data filmed by my camera and audio data recorded via pc.

I was wondering is there an 'easy' to sync an audio track that i recorded and a video of me playing it since the second is filmed by a camera that is in no way linked to the pc?

The audio from my camera sucks so just recording me playing through amp is out of the question.
And recording something through a software and syncing it with what my camera is filming in something like sony vegas, like uploading both tracks seperately and then finding where they sync, seems a bit time-consuming.

Now i've never done this before and i have no idea how others do it (and haven't seen any q about) which might make this q a no-brainer, but it ain't to me so any light on this subject would be appreciated.

And if manualy syncing 2 tracks is the only way, plz refer me to some free programs i might use
(i tryed it in reaper but it doesn't support video)

If your camera records SMPTE, and you synced your devices on record, yes - very easy. My guess is since you are asking after, you didn't. You'll have to sync by hand, unless someone else made a post fix plug in. It should be pretty easy - sync to the first snare hit. I still do clapboard at the beginning of my videos, so they are easy to sync by hand if the SMPTE goes wonky.

If your camera is digital, and audio digital, then even without SMPTE it's fairly easy to sync them. My Sony video camera has no drift at all.

Cakewalk Sonar (Roland) and Sony have great products for this.
For free - I don't know.
Windows Media Encoder, or Windows Movie maker might have a way to overlay the sound track.

thx, didn't know about the SMPTE thingy tho im not so sure that my camera has the ability to record it since it's rather low-end.

And if any1 comes up with a free program for this use, don't be shy

And i find Windows movie maker... lacking

You could always do it the ol' fashioned way...

If you monitored via speakers (rather than headphones) it should be fairly easy to sync your new master's audio waveform with that of the camera's. Then unlink the originak audio from the video and delete it.
