Audix D4 Mic - Any Users?

I just picked up an Audix D4 mic for my bass cabinet. I'm pretty excited, but wondered if anyone else has used one and what their experience has been.

I've been looking around for a good bass mic since we recorded our last album (we do it old school with all analog equipment...nothing digital!). I pretty much took a DI off of my amp for my feed.

Our next project may work out as an instrumental album and we'll be recording with my old EV 16 channel mixer.

yep. used it for many a project... wonderful mic, well balanced in it´s frq.response... beats an 421 IMO... try positioning a bit further back (say, 6 in.) than "in the grille"...

Great mic - I will agree on mic placement with a caveat - if you're going to use it live....might want to keep it on the grille to minimize the off-axis noise.

This is especially true if your bass cabinets are anywhere near the drums.
