Auto Punch

Hi!

I'd like to know if any of you use an auto punch footswitch for recording and would like to comment? What kind or brand and what are the alternatives? They are hard to find and there's not much information on them.

So far I found this: Invalid Link Removed

Thank you!

You can find them all over, look for USB footswitch
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...e-_-Accessories+-+USB-_-Scythe+USA-_-12999116

they come with software for translating footpresses into keystrokes. If you need midi from it look into Bome midi translator.

I do use footswitches for changing presets, loop points, ..., but I don't use a USB footswitch. Instead I have several interfaces and midi controllers and they all have extra footswitch inputs. I use a couple of regular keyboard footswitches. Look on the back of your interface, it may already have a footswitch jack.

^ this, and different DAW's will have slightly different ways in which they impliment commands coming from extra interfaces, but will probably all have a way even if its a workaround.

I use a frontier alphatrack, it also has soft keys and dials and a motorised fader for writing automation. I don't use it too much to be honest but its quite useful and the footswitch feature works quite nicely!

Thanks for your replies.

I forgot to mention that I use a pocket studio with 1/4 imput for the auto/manual punch I/O. This was cheaper and simpler for digital recording than change my PC with all the hardware and softwares needed to make some decent recordings.

Update on this one: I've been using a simple keyboard sustain pedal with great success for punch in/out record functions. Moreover it's useful with some midi devices. Also, using an active DI helps a lot matching the input gain of the pocket studio (dB pad).
