Avatar cabinets on CL/ looking for opinions

Theres a avatar 4x10 and 2x12 cab set in my local CL. I dont know much about avatar, I would be upgrading from a crate 4x10 and Im using an ampeg pf500. Does anybody have any opinions on these cabs.

Were they doing the "Neo thing" two years ago? I don't know enough about Avatar to have a guess as to what they are by looking at them.

I think the neo's were available 2 years ago...I love my 210...they're a great cab for the money- retail and those look to be in very good condition. Do a search here (Avatar owners club) and I'm sure you'll find the exact models and reviews...almost all very positive.That's a good price for both cabs if there's nothing wrong with them and certainly a huge upgrade from crate (no offense intended)...cheers...dm

Avatar makles great cabs.. I use a neo B212 ... for the price point a lot of bang for the buck.

If I had the cash, I'd jump on that! That's almost $1k worth of cabs there. Keep the 4x10 and sell the 2x12 (or vice versa). Avatars are great cabs! Their prices have risen of late but years ago they were the best cabs for the money!

I own an Avatar B410 Neo (4 ohm). It is simply the best cab I've ever heard. I use the cab along with a Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0. This rig just shakes the bars/clubs where my band plays. I don't even need to go thru the PA. Clean, non-farty bass thump at its best!!!

I found a 4ohm B212neo on CL for $250. Great cab for the money. At the time I was trying out a PF500. It worked great on an 8ohm cab, but when I plugged it into the avatar, it would cut out (limit).

Probably just related to that particular amp. Others use them with great success, but that's what happened to me.

I believe I have read something about not so hot frequency response in the 2k hz range due to the crossover to the tweeter. I can't say that it bothers me.

I'm sure there are better cabs, but I'm thinking you'd be hard pressed to make more noise for $450 OBO. If they are neo then they are pretty easy to schlep as well.

I've an Avatar B212 and sometimes use it with my pf500. Mine is a 4 ohm version, and it really has a good sound and kick. If it was the 8 ohm version I'd have two. It is neo, so nice weight. I also have a pf115 cab. The Avatar and the pf115 are certainly different, but both good. Which is better, depends on my mood.

Definitely can't go wrong there. I have a neo 212 and absolutely kills. At that price, you can try em out and resell if you don't like. If I were closer I'd be all over it myself.

Have a 1x12 cab now, would gladly get a bigger cab when needed.

I also have a 1x12 Avatar bass cab for my home set up. i have ran it though a GK 1001rb-II head from my bigger rig and now am using an Ampeg pf500 and both have sounded really good. it is very clear and has plenty of definition to it. i have even played shows with it and it can get pretty loud. i would recommend Avatar to anyone.
