I lived with Clyde Stubblefield in a multi-band house in Madison, WI for a couple of years in the early 80's. For any of you who don't know who he was ... he played drums for James Brown during his heyday from 1965 - 1970 and was the drummer on "Cold Sweat" (considered to be the dawn of funk music) and on "Funky Drummer" (which at one point ... maybe still ... is the most sampled groove of all time). He was a super nice guy and an incredible drummer. Anyway, his favorite band was the Average White Band so I would call that quite an endorsement for those Scottish funksters.

Clyde was the drummer in the Whad'ya Know house band. I listened to the show religiously, and saw them in Akron in the mid '00s.Clyde Stubblefield had a nice gig on a NPR gameshow, “Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me,” that was recorded in Madison, WI for years.
