Awful Band Name - Fight or Flight?

BTW, when I first clicked this thread I though the band name in question was "Fight or Flight". Didn't think that was that bad, though a bit generic.
I was in a band a couple of years ago with the worst band name ever. I was embarrassed to tell people what we were called.
That might seem worse. I was trying to learn how to play a drum set that was left in my garage and some dudes came over to rock out. As soon as we wrote a couple of songs and the band came together, everyone but me decided that it would be the greatest thing ever to name the band The Aints.
"The Aints" is just boring and lame to start with, but saying it out loud was awful. People would ask the name of the band and I'd tell them and nobody would get it the first time, no matter how clearly you would say it. They would say, "the HATE?!?" and you'd say it again and they would go, "oh... the Eight?" and so on. I quit after a couple of months. Then there would be like, one random dude from Australia who would chime in and give us a hard time because that name was taken over there.
The moral of the story: anything that is catchy and memorable is better than a mushy word that everyone mishears whenever it is spoken.
It sounds like you guys started out as a Metal or Southern Rock band, but now want to clean up the image(playing in a parade, etc.) or at least you do. My view is that if you get along pretty well with the players, like the music, feel like the band has a future, then ask them one more time to change the name. If the answer is no to any of the above, or they still give you flak, and cannot come up with a good reason for keeping the name, then tell them adios. Music is supposed to be fun, remember? and besides, look at the names of some of the most famous bands in the history of music. Most of them are really simple and plain Jane names. The name doesn't make the band famous, The band makes the name famous. JMHO
Could be worse, My bands name is Cactuz Juice, Its not even spelled correctly and I feel like I should be playing country music.
The Dam* Yankees were all over the radio. I don't get the offensive aspects of it, but maybe that's the tack to take with your band mates..."Guys, there's already been a band called Dam* Yankees".
