Bacchus basses: "World" or MIJ

Long term fan of Bacchus here. I can only echo what Frank says, they're the business. Keep an eye on Ishibashi's second hand section, plenty of bargains can be picked up there, especially the Handmade MIJ stuff which is priced so nicely, you'd be crazy to go with anything else.

And in time-honoured Talkbass fashion, here are some pics of my crew. All are handmade MIJ, the first two I got second hand from the u-box. Ishibashi are very good to deal with and anything I bought from them has been in better condition than their description.

I hadn't even heard of this make until one of us entrred his in the prettiest bass contest. People seem to say good things about them, and the made in Japan models seem to be reasonably cheap - and the "wotld" models, made in the Philippines, are amazingly cheap. I love my Yamaha BBs, and these have some similarities, so I'm curious. Anybody have knowledge or opinions?

I did a review on one that I had, which was the flagship Japanese one (GAS struck, so I no longer have it), and it was one of only three basses that I've ever had, where I actually got compliments on the tone. Keep in mind that I've had TONS of basses over the years....

To the thread OP, I highly Danny Stewart (the contact below yours). I've emailed him numerous times, and he's always answered my questions. Plus, he has tons of Bacchus reviews on YouTube.

Great description ! I am officially intrigued now with these. I will look into the "Handmade in Japan" models since I always like to buy the flagship models of any brand. Thanks ! Again, TB'ers are the source of bass truth.

As far as I'm concerned, Bacchus have the ABSOLUTE best quality to price ratio, at any level.
by this I mean that their chinese Universe line outdo Mexican Fenders for 1/4 of the price, their Global line outdo Japanese Fenders for 1/3 of the price and their Craft and Handmade models outdo American products for 1/2 the price. This is true of their Les Pauls, Strats, Teles, Vs, SGs, Mustangs, as well as Jazz and Precision models. I'm never touching the big brand names, ever again (says this full-time, professionnal musician/unbiased and non-sponsored Bacchus player).

I have to agree....I literally walked away from many AMERICAN name-brand basses long ago....I just don't hear the price vs sound quality being worth the difference (and I own about 20 different bass guitars). And, worse yet, when you walk out into the front of house (as someone compares your 2 or 3 bass guitars), and you listen to the difference, and you cannot really tell much difference....that was it for me. No more high price for me, except, the only real Kudos I can give to any American brand of bass guitars, is the good ol' Peavey TL6....FANTASTIC quality, great sound....enough that I own 3 of them :O

Recently bought a bacchus dx5 handmade. These basses are no joke! Im done with overpriced american instruments . Bacchus can stand with Any of them.

This is made in japan. I got rid of a sadowsky mv5, and got the bacchus, and was glad i did. I could not get used to the huge neck on it. I also got the Str Sierra sc5. Again this bass is awesome to. Nothing against sadowsky but i paid wayyy to much for what i got.but ,you know what i say " to each his reach.

The guy Ned up at vsn guitars in canada hooked me up. You owe it to yourself to check these instruments . If id had the sad mv5 and the bacchus in my hands at the same time ,id take the bacchus 5 and then buy another one with the extra money. Seriously, Its got everything the sadowsky has ,except the high price. and its better lookin lol. I just took a chance on it. Hey if you dont like it you can send em back right? Im just sayin.

that SC5 is a bargain. That is one nice bass. Serious gigging man's instrument. NO BS. The first and last instrument 99% of gigging musicians would ever really need. Anything more is just icing on the cake. Might look prettier but doesn't change the taste.

I have a lot of really nice instruments but I know 100% for sure, no one and I mean absolutely zero, can match that quality at that price point. I saw one, brand new for 1400. I regret that I didn't snag it.

I paid 1400.00 for my bacchus dx5 handmade series.it came with a decent gig bag too. The neck is perfect for my hand. If guys give these basses a chance ,they will not regret it.
