I know many on TB are fond of Bacchus basses. In the Bacchus world, what is the quality level of the Universe Series?

After this review, I am not interested. It sounds like it would have the same issues as my Squier.
What does a fretless have to do with a Geddy Lee?Wait... you’re not tired of that Geddy already are you Doc?
I have one. Had to replace the nut and and install a different string tree to stop the buzzing on the A string. Pickups are not the best quality, but are functional. Good beginner bass, but not my first choice for gigs. Comparable to the Squiers.
Bacchus has a number of level basses. From the top handmade series and Craft series which are made in Japan to the Global series made in the Philippines and then the Universe series which is their most inexpensive line made in China.
I had a Universe series ‘51 p-bass. I would say it was comparable to the lower end Squier basses.
The bass in the photo I replaced the bridge and added the pickup cover.
I currently have a Craft series and a Handmade Woodline series Bacchus Basses which are easily on par with Japanese Sadowsky basses.

Definitely!! In fact, On my Woodline, I upped the ante and dropped in Dimarzio Ultra Jazz pups and a Sadowsky preamp! It's a perfect sounding, perfectly balanced, easy to play, drop dead gorgeous instrument! (Ash body, Ziricote top, Maple neck/fretboard, Ebony binding and inlays!) Here's how it sounds with slap!

Nice. I actually put an Audere preamp in mine. Both my Bacchus basses have them.
I have a Bacchus Woodline lined fretless.
When I received it I was disappointed by 2 or 3 dead spots (real surprise to me for a fretless).
My intrepid repair expert discovered that the fret lines are a different wood than the rest of the neck. (Lines are inlays, not painted). The 2 woods expand and contract at different rates. After not being played for 2 years by the prior owner, then being shipped it needed attention. He conditioned the wood, did some magic, and now it plays and sounds like a dream.

I always get the 3-Band model.
In fact I just replaced the stock preamp in my Moon JJ4 Fretless with an Audere 3-band preamp. Big upgrade in sound from the stock preamp. These photos are from the Moon install.
