I'm putting together a small rig for Jazz and Latin gigs on Fretless and Double bass. I've decided to go with a GK Backline 600 head and an Avatar B210 Neo cabinet. I want to keep it portable so it will be just the single cabinet. Is there any reason not to go with the 4ohm version of the Avatar cabinet with this head?

Backline 600 and Avatar Cab - 4ohm or 8ohm?

I'd definitely do the 4 ohm cab, if you're sure it's going to be just a single cab setup. That will be pretty darn nice, actually. I just checked, and the GK is 17" wide, with the Avatar being 18" tall. That means you can stand the Neo210 vertically and put the GK on top with no overhang. I'm sure none of this is new to you, but I thought I'd post it for others' reference.

In what context, i.e., what type of music, what's the band makeup, how much stage volume, etc? I can't speak for this exact combination, but I have played some fairly loud blues gigs in small to medium sized bars with 300 watts and 2x10 (my Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0-10t combo plus stl10t extension cab). It worked great, but blues, even Stevie Ray type electric blues, isn't generally as loud as metal or hard rock, etc.

To expand on keyboard guy's response, the GK Backline 600 is rated at 300 watts at 4 ohms but only 180 watts at 8 ohms. If you are going to go with only one cab, use a 4 ohm cab to get the full 300 watts. I have paired my GK with an Aguilar S410, which is a 4 ohm cab.
