What was the advantage of using a Badass II bridge back in the day and can you still find them for a Jazz? If not, what is the equivalent available today?

Bad Ass 2?

Fender make a Badass II-style bridge that comes stock on a few modes (starcaster to name one). Hipshot make the 'Kickass' bridge which is a tribute with a little bit more functionality. There is also the 'Omega' branded Badass II-style bridges available.
The only advantage I use them for is that the saddles don't slide sideways with playing as they are locked into grooves.
