Bad Power Source = Amp clipping?

OK well in my seemingly endless search for what could be wrong with my amp, here's another piece to the puzzle:

It seemed at 50% volume my amp was clipping into my Goliath Jr. III (while I was practicing at home - quite loudly hehe).

So I take it to band practice - same settings, even with a bit more bass, and no clipping!

Can the power source do this? I know the plugs in my house are very shady (light bulbs + fuses blowing all the time), but I wouldn't expect this.

Quite possible. If the voltage coming out of the wall is low, it will drop the clip point of the amp. Whether it's enough to be significant is another question, but the possibility is there.
