Badass 1 source?

I just spent about 20 minutes searching while I drink my morning coffee, and found nothing. You might try the TB Classifieds posting a Wanted to Buy listing. You never know what somebody has in a drawer someplace, but ive literally never seen one in person. Given the sheer number and variety of bridges out there, its hard to imagine that there isnt something that would have the string height, spacing, and small footprint of a BA1 in its range of adjustment. I bought my original BA II in 1980, intending to retrofit my Ric because......Geddy. Luckily, i chickened out, and its still on my Warmoth Fretless Frankenjazz. Nice bridge, but there are far better ones available now.

Hipshot's "Kickass"... is their answer to the Badass 1
It comes pretty close.

The badass 1 is pretty different from the 2. I think the 1 is meant for curved bass bodies whereas the 2 is flat underneath.
They are flat underneath. The Badass 1 is for narrower spacing more like a Gibson with humbuckers. It does sit pretty tall and should be on a bass with either a neck very proud of the body or with the neck tilted back slightly (1-2 degrees). Early 80s Lado basses used them with humbucker pickups.

Well, that’s what I need one for. Very early Spector inspired build. If nothing shows up I have to go with option #2, which is Schaller 3d.
The first version Schaller 3D is a good alternative as you can set string spacing. Gibson used Schallers on several 80s version basses they produced (Victory basses).
