Bag to carry both speaker stands and mic stands

First post in this forum. I'm a member of the board of the local jazz Society, and I run sound for their monthly shows. It's a decent but humble set up: Presonus AR16 board, Yamaha powered speakers Beta 57 mics. It gets the job done. We usually only mic the piano and one horn if they don't have a big sound, plus a talk mic.

I usually bring 4 mics, 4 stands, and two speaker stands along with the board and speakers. I have a bag that handles mics and cables. Looking for a sturdy bag that can carry the mic stands and speaker stands together to save me a trip.

Any ideas?

Trouble with those are the fact that the pop-up frame squares up the bag. Without the framed pop-up in there, it's just a floppy bag with wheels. The mic and speaker stand bags are smaller and stiffer, holding their shape better and are more practical.

I have several of those pop-ups bags around the house and had thought of that for a minute. The only use I saw for them was the wheels but only after the mic stands were in the mic stand bag and the whole mic stand bag was put into the pop-up bag. With the mic stand bag holding its shape, like a pop-up then I could use the wheels. But I already had a cart. 🤔

I have this one, although I'm not carrying quite as much.

It's pretty roomy- though it may not be wide/large enough fit all your stands, depending on how bulky they are.
the longer length helps if you offset the speaker stands bases and can fit the mic stands in-between
I haven't done a more intensive search, but they often have different dimensions for many of their other cases....

I don't recommend this.

For mic stands I have a couple of K&M 21315. These have an attached internal sleeve with compartments for 6 mic stands. You can sneak a few extra stands in as well. You basically put the stands in the compartments then roll the sleeve into the bag. The sleeve in the K&M bag provides good protection but it is a bit of a hassle to deal with. Also there seems to be some concern with construction quality. I just lifted mine off a shelf to prepare for this post, and one of the sewn in straps broke. So maybe avoid this one :sour: .

For speaker stands I bought a pair of Frankenstands with a matching bag. The bag is pretty nice. You could check measurements to see if it would work with you stands

Both of these bags have shoulder straps, so you could put one on each shoulder.

Gravity makes a 6 mic-stand bag: GBGMS6B

I think this format would be a bit more convenient than the K&M, I can't comment on construction. Also I don't think it has a shoulder strap.

Gravity has made a bag for two speaker stands and two mic sands: BGSS2MS2B. This model does not show on their website, so it may be discontinued. Bags | Gravity It appears to be still be available from multiple vendors though.

If it's long enough, you might be able to get two speaker stands and four mic stands in an SKB Golf Travel Case.

I used an older version of this case for a bunch of mic stands. If I remember correctly we had an anvil style rolling case for speaker stands. Sorry the mid 90s was a long time ago. The mic stands do tend to get scratched up a bit as they are laying on top of each other.

Thanks for the replies, everyone! Had thought about Golf bags, but I'm not sure they are big enough to fit all those stands. I like the ideal of wheels, though!

The speakers stand bag linked above is nice. The issue I find is that most bags I find at Sweetwater, etc. are for either speaker stands OR mic stands. We currently have a generic heavy bag that we use to carry the mic stands. It does a decent enough job, but is heavy and not ideal and too small/short to hold the speaker stands. I would love wheels to be a part of the equation, too.

I've done hundreds of small sound gigs like yours and I've found you don't always have to elevate the speakers.

Obviously if it's a larger crowd or a loud room, getting the speakers up is essential. However, if you're just mic'ing piano, one horn, and a talkback, you'd be surprised at how good powered speakers can sound on the floor, on a stage, or even on a chair or cocktail type table.

Another setup I've had success with is bringing just one speaker stand for one main, and kicking the other back as a monitor, both on the same side of the stage with mixer - by me - so I can access everything if and when needed.
