Band in a Box for practice?

So I have been reading through this thread and i think I may take a leap...Question...if I wanted to "drop" a song into it...like, let's say, cover band tunes, does it show me the chords and then create a similar track without the instrument I choose? Like bass?

Or is it just mostly for making and arranging your own music with a "band" and not so much for practicing existing songs?

You can't drop a tune in, and you have to know the chords of the song you want to put in, but you can easily create accompaniment for tunes your band does. It won't do riffs, but you can program in hits, stops, and things along that line.

In case anyone is interested, Guitar Interactive Magazine, a free online iGuitar magazine, is offering Guitar Pro 6 Lite registered for free this month in their downloads. According to the ad, this enables you to a "preference" upgrade to Guitar Pro 6 complete at 50% off. I already have Guitar Pro 6, but if someone is looking to buy the software, it looks like this is a way to get a copy of GP6 at half off. Thought I would share....

Here is the link that I received: Link Removed

Works for me, but I'm a subscriber to Guitar Interactive Magazine online. If the link does not work for you, maybe you want to sign up for the free online mag and check them out.

Take care.
