Double Bass band in a box

wasn't really sure which forum to post this under but...

whats the best edition of band in a box, or are there even any big differences between them? also, i found another program called finale for half the price. is this a similar program? thanks.

Depends on what you want to do, write out and print music, or play along in a music minus one type of thing? Band in a box utilises .rar files - convertible to midi or wav, You can also write music on it with some difficulty. finale can do midi and mus plus some other things. as well as write music very easily. band in a box can also compose solos for you in the style of your favorite player. Oh, and if you are talking about the full version of finale at half the price of BIAB, that's a steal!

I prefer band in a box over finale, unless I'm arranging something. I think the best version is the latest version, which can take an audio file (mp3, wav) and turn it into a chart. Band in a box is a great tool for practice, but finales is reat for composing or arranging.

Is that the 2008 version? That's awsome! How accurate is the conversion?

yeah i would be using it for practicing charts so biab would be the way to go i guess.
the solo creator sounds awesome and the audio file-chart converter blows my mind. i feel like im weak in terms of soloing, so maybe id get too dependent on it for ideas. i guess everyone gets their ideas from somewhere though

I just have the demo version - I can't save files, and can't generate solos. Works fine for me, because it forces me to make my own solos.

update- I now have the 2008 version, and the chord transcription is pretty good - not too useful for jazz, but great for simple songs.
