Band Logo Design

Who do you guys use for designing band logos? I have no artistic talent and would like to get a logo for our band name. I tried contacting a web/logo designer here in my town but he never responded. Maybe my job is too small for him to take on? Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

Thanks

How about contacting a local college or school, maybe run a competition there?
Ask at the police station or library who's the local graffiti artist and hire them?
If there's a local starbucks, ask there, they always seem to be full of unemployed graphics designers bumming the free wifi.

You could, of course, also post the name here, and what sort of band it is, and I'm sure you'd get some sample ideas.

One suggestion. Don't put a guitar in a band logo. In comedy, they call that putting a hat on a hat.

per the OP: i think @Oddly and @Frank Tuesday pretty much covered it! also: sometimes a font style works without any design/image components and that's something you and your mates can look for without the benefit of an artist. in any case, good luck with your logo design!

:wideyed: makes some sense for a comedian, maybe ....but @S-Bigbottom's example is an obvious exception to what may be a dubious bit of advice for musicians and bands.

There are some exceptions (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers is another) but if you think back at all the classic band logos 99.9999% don't have guitars.

There are places to submit your request. Then several competing artists/graphic designers submit their designs. You pick the one you like and contact the person for any tweaks you might like to see. You pay the person when the logo is complete to your satisfaction.

My brother and I used them for our Company Logo ( since back-shelved because, reasons :) )
