Bands who got better

List some bands who got much better over time. Like a band whose first album wasn't so good but 4th album was amazing.

Slayer. Show No Mercy and Hell Awaits pale in comparison to the three albums that followed. However, nothing since Seasons in the Abyss has compared to those three albums either, but you said 4th album!!

I also think High on Fire has gotten better though pretty much everyone that likes that band would probably disagree.

I agree with all of those, except maybe Green Day. They did get better with Dookie and Insomniac, but their newer stuff sucks.

Metallica was great on Kill 'Em All and Ride the Lightning, but I felt that Master of Puppets was the album that they really shined on.

Radiohead. Pablo Honey, feh, though Creep was a pretty funny tune. Kid A? Hard to believe it's the same band.

Tool could be placed in this category, although there are some that really like the first albums, I think they really hit their stride with Aenima and Lateralus was amazing.

+1 I actually like their first two albums. Very raw, but they were true to themselves. Eventually they sold out and got "poppy". I put Incubus into this category, even though the newer stuff (Light Grenades is fantastic) is totally different from the early stuff, almost straying from who they were.

Tool could be placed in this category, although there are some that really like the first albums, I think they really hit their stride with Aenima and Lateralus was amazing.

Undertow is my all-time favorite Tool album actually, mostly because I have fond memories as a teen from it.
