Bartolini: 8S, 8SU or 8CPB?

I play jazz with a small group at moderate volumes. My main instrument is a Fender Highway 1 P-Bass with a Bartolini 8S pickup, Gotoh B201-4 bridge and Thomastik-Infeld Jazz J344 strings. The 8S pickup produces a smooth sound with more lows and midrange than a stock pickup.

I've recently gotten a Yamaha RBX260F, which is basically a Yamaha P-bass with a fretless fingerboard. I'm in the process of upgrading it, and will probably take the same basic approach. I'm not sure whether the 8S would be right for a fretless bass, though.

I know what Bartolini's 8S sounds like, but I've never heard their 8SU or 8CPB pickups. Are any of you familiar with all three? If so, how would you describe the differences in tone and sound between them? Which do you think would be best for a fretless bass?
