Bartolini P4 for 19mm 5 string?...Dropouts?

Hey there folks,
I have a pair of Bartolini P4's that were in a custom 6 string bass for about 2 years (mid 90's), and have lived in a drawer since. I'm currently having a 5 string built, with 19mm string spacing, and I'm wondering if the P4's would work, or, being that these were intended for 6 string use, would there be any dropouts due to the coil placement ?

It depends on the coil configuration - "P4" describes only the shape of the pickup. Internally, it could be a dual coil, split coil or quad coil.

If it's a dual coil, no problem. But if it's a split or quad coil designed for a six string, your center string might have problems because it'll be running between the coils instead of over them.

ETA - Barts usually have their model numbers hand engraved in the back of the pickup.
