Bartolini Quad Coil wiring - help

Have my pair of Bartolini quad coil pups coming in.

The diagram below offers 3 possibilities per pup:
  • treble up
  • full
  • treble down

As an extra, I would like to install a SERIES/PARALLEL SWITCH MODE FOR TREBLE UP.

Could anyone draw me a diagram?

In the diagram you've shown, the 6-conductor quad-coil pickups assume that you're connecting the active coils in series, in any of the three options that are shown.

In the "four coils HB" middle position (DPDT on/off/on) the blue and red conductors are effectively isolated (i.e. not shorted to any other conductors). This puts the coils in a circuit like this:

output (black) coil1 (red) coil2 (orange->green) coil3 (blue) coil4 (white) ground

In the "P-Bass treble coil up" the switch connects blue to green+orange, which effectively shorts out one coil (which I assume to be bass coil up) and also connects red to black (which I assume to be treble coil down). This puts the coils in a circuit like this:

output (black->red) coil2 (orange->green->blue) coil4 (white) ground

As you can see, everything is still in a serial chain.

Using a parallel combination for the "P-Bass treble up" is possible, but you'd need to change the switch wiring a lot. You would start by soldering the blue and green conductors together, then tape them off; next, solder the black and red conductors together, and connect both to the "output" such as a volume pot, pre-amp or other switch. At that point, you simply wire up a DPDT on/on switch with the orange and green+blue conductors, to treat them as a simple series/parallel switch. The white conductor still goes straight to ground.

It would look similar to the bottom diagram on page 1 from this PDF, except the conductor colors will be different:

Thanks man, but I would like to keep all the original options open and just add a possibility for soloing (the pups will go into my fretless.)

This is relevant to my interests :)

I have a quad coil Bart MM pickup that I picked up a while back and stuck in the closet. I got it out and tried to wire it up but I can't get any output from it.

However, I don't have an on/off/on switch to wire it up like the diagrams. I did try the full on humbucker mode that does not require a switch, with no dice.

Since I don't have an on/off/on, can I use an on/on/on just for testing?

If not, what are the wires for the individual coils? I'd like to at least test/measure each coil, but I don't know what to hook up or where to put the meter leads.

I'm sure there's a way to achieve this by adding a rotary switch of some type. Let me spend some time with a pencil and paper and see what I can figure out for you.
 
Hey Tubby, thanks for your time, man...

I did have some simplistic plan already, but wanted some extra input. My plan:

1. wire bridge pup with 3-position DPDT as in Bartolini diagram
2. wire neck pup as in Bartolini diagram too, except for ground (shield and white)
3. wire a 2-position DPDT and V-V-T pots as in the diagram below:

where:
  • bridge pup hot (black out on the Bartolini diagram) = bridge red wire pup to series/parallel-switch in the series/parallel diagram
  • neck pup ground (shield and white in on the Bartolini diagram) = neck black wire series/parallel-switch to pup in the series/parallel diagram.

I'm stupid enough to figure that this method will give me 3 x 3 x 2 = 18 options.
