basic preamp to drop into mij jazz?

Hey all!
I was wondering if there is any mid range drop in preamps to check out for my 70s RI MIJ Fender jazz. i am aware of the east and audere preamps, but they seem a bit complicated for what i do.
Im looking for a more modern type tones sometimes.
Any and all suggestions would be great.

Get an aguilar 2 band. You will have to mount the jack on the bottom or go with a stacked tone pot. You will probably want to route for batteries under the pickguard because these preamps give you a lot more headroom when you go 18 volts. They come with wiring instructions or you can download schematics from their website.

Yes, get a Vol-Vol-2 band Audere. I suggest the Vol-Vol after much talking with Dave. The Balance pre seems more geared to Jazz players.

Edit: Your in the UK? East J-retro is also a drop in replacement for you. It would be probably cheaper to get the East if you are in the UK than the Audere.

I dont want to rout anypart of my bass, so i will probly go with the audere, cause i want to keep two volumes and am not really a fan of lots of controls.
Any info on how these sound? from people who have done it?
or any other options?
im not afraid of solder!

Aguilar OBP-1 2-band - probably can run on one 9V battery - search TB.
or
Sadowsky 2-band
or
Sadowsky outboard pre/DI - killer sound, you can use it with more basses, you have mute switch and XLR DI...

The outboard pre is a good option too the Sadowsky or even the Radial Bassbone. For a drop in Pre its real tough to argue against the Audere from a price and great sounding unit.
