Bass Case Project.

Don't know if this is strictly classed as 'hardware' but here it is.

I'm Making a bass hard case ( out of Birch faced ply ) as a project at school and was wandering if there were any tips that any1 could give me . I'd like to be able to put straps on it and, if possible, manage to reduce the weight of the case. Help would be very much appreciated, Thanks .
