I think its time for me to kick in some opinion. I have deal with Beaver several times, brought an Alembic and have two beautiful Foderas on order...Beaver and the guys at BC knows how to treat a customer, period. Even if you are just looking for informations or advises, they never push you into a business, and I trust Beaver's advises (as I often lingering upon several beauties and have a hard time making decision...). If anyone looking for quality service and honest dealer, Bass Central is the place to go !! As I brought more than 15k into the store and still keep coming back...:hyper:

Beaver, if I ever in town, your store will be the first place I visit :-)

I just had my first transaction through Bass Central. I've been emailing them constantly asking if I can get different things done, and just endless questions. They were very patient through the whole experience and it ended with me getting a nice deal on a Lakland DJ4. All of my future bass business will go to them. Thanks!

I've bought a couple of Laklands from Beaver, Mike, Perry, and Grasshopper and the experiences were absolutley wonderful. Great store (I take a 3 hour road trip every 4-6 months out there just to drool), great guys to hang with, great bassists, what more could a bass player ask for. They always see to it that you get excactly what you want, rather than just pushing the stock on the wall. Much respect for all the guys at Bass Central.

Just bought a new Dingwall AB 1 over the internet from BC. Sent an email that I now see I should have posted here:

Just want you to know my new Dingwall has arrived in Smythes Creek (Australia) eight days after you shipped it.

It's in perfect condition, the set-up is excellent and the Bass Central tee-shirt fits! (Now about that yellow colour...)

Bass Central does rock! I bought a custom Alembic from them a year and a half ago and they were great. Beaver and the guys were very helpful and I still feel I got the best price I could have on a very expensive bass.

Got my SR5 20th Anniversary from Bass Central, after asking for numerous quotes on various basses over the years, and always receiving great help even when I wasn't a paying customer.

About to send an email concerning some Eden and Phil Jones equipment. :)

Hi guys,

I'm hoping to buy an Elrick soon through Basscentral since they are next to impossible to find in Europe. Just need to sell a bass first. I have been chatting a bit with Ed over mail and he's been very nice and helpful.

Has anyone had any experience dealing with Basscentral from overseas? I'm living in Denmark and there's a lot of costs involved importing an instrument from the US. So to be honest I'm of course a bit concerned since it's entirely new to me. :)

I'd really appreciate if anyone who had been in a similar situation had anything to share.

Some people view internet porn at work. My guilty pleasure is www.basscentral.com. Their inventory makes me drool. When I was in the Air Force, I was tired of being abused by pushy, uncaring salesmen. On leave, I would check out all the "big box" music stores. All of these places had a fair amount of inventory, but the salesmen were either guitarists or only concerned about making a quick sale. It was sad when I knew more about the product than the guy selling said item. I wanted to spend money, but I'm a big fan of developing some sort of report when purchasing big ticket items. While flipping through Bass Player, I saw the BC ad in the back. I was floored that the owner, Beaver freaking Felton answered the phone! It was like talking to a celebrity. I've seen his super chops books everywhere. He was so patient with my needs, and went the extra mile for me. In return, I purchased three basses and an amp. Very nice folks. It's sad that I live in Florida and have never visited the store. He's good to military folks also. In fact, his kindness to military reflects credit upon himself as a true patriot. God bless bass central.

I'm done with buying new basses for now, but that new Sterling 5 just came out. HMMMMMM;)

I'll toss my hat into the Bass Central praise.

The three times I've dealt with them, I have been more impressed by the fact that they really make sure that what you're buying will suit your needs over just closing a sale. Grasshopper was great in answering all of my questions (and sharing Moody Blues jokes too...which is appropriate, given my last name is Moody) in regards to me purchasing an iAmp Micro 300. I don't think I could've made a more informed or better choice for my gigging right now (which is in theatres, in small pits).

Agreed on making sure your purchase suits your needs. Back in the late nineties, I was hot for a Stingray, but Beaver suggested I take a look at the Sterling. I took his advice and was impressed with the bass. So enamored I was with the Sterling, that I bought two of them from BC within a three year period. I still have my two babies, and I'm glad Beaver showed me the light.

the only ones there ive met in person is larue in 1996 and grasshopper in 2008.
ive met them in tampa and california namm.

ive talked to ed and beaver on the phone.

thank you guys for a painless exchange cuz in the end im very happy!!!! sorry for all the emails. im picky.

( had to exchange a defective stain wood mismatch / noisey ground ( in the box new) CIJ fender jaguar bass for a classic 70's MIM jazz ( in the box new also ) its not BC's fault its fender japan lack of quality control FAIL ) some may argue this, but trust me... ive had over 20 basses and have had many fenders. ive even assembled 2 basses from fender / warmoth / schaller / hipshot parts , etc. i know what to look for and expect.

anyway thanks beaver and crew!!!!!

i will be buying AGAIN

VERY VERY VERY VERY happy with the end result... the bass sounds kikass and is perfect. just like geddy lee but rosewood / pearl blocks. and no badass bridge which is fine by me. . . now i can sound like marcus and geddy and even steve harris some no problem.

Alan, I gotta tell you that we probably spent more man hours, attention, phone calls, emails, etc., on this issue than any other I can remember.

We went well into the Red, all considered. :help:

However, that's all acceptable given that you ended up with a smile on your face and a great feeling about BC and my staff. :hyper:

The box might be a built in fuzz tone. Kinda rare, I think.

"As far as I am aware the only bass with built-in fuzz until about mid-66 was the Gibson EB-0 and EB-3, which had the Maestro FZ-1A electronics built-in. Anything is possible, but these basses had the problem of a very slow attack with the fuzz active -you hit a note, and the sound produced had half a second delay, making it virtually impossible to play on the beat."

And that's what makes the place great in my opinion. I've spent various amounts of time and money at Bass Central over the years, and the price on the item I was looking at had no bearing on the quality of help I received. It's quite clear that they take the long view and realize that if they take care of every customer they get, they'll never run out of customers. I suspect they do it because it works, especially for the niche they serve.
