Bass Collection "Californian" info

Well, the "bass collection" was a brand of MIJ nanyo SGC something Ibanez lookalikes back in the 80's. The Rick and other copies came some time later under the same brand but production was apparently moved to Indonesia or Korea. The older ones had the logo and some kind of serial number or identification in the cavity cover or inside the cavity or something. They don't seem to go for much but it sure looks nice. I'm guessing you'll have kind of a hard time selling this, however.
No, "Bass Collection" is the brand of the Bass Centre in London, most famously known for making Elites Strings. "Bass Collection" is their own brand of bass guitars, which bought in SGC Nanyo's, and sold them as Bass Collection Nanyo's mainly in the UK and Europe. Their range currently has variations of the J & P basses, but also include the Bill Wyman bass & the Brian May bass.
The Californian dates back to roughly the early 2000's, and was caught up in the "Rockinbetter" / "Rebelrocker" Faker furore, and subsequently dropped from the lineup a few years later. The build quality is pretty good, 3 piece maple through neck, 34" scale, reasonable weight.
Good luck selling it, as you'll have a hard time due to the RickenFaker debacle (Real vs Fake Ric & subsequent threats of lawsuits to anyone trying to resell a Faker from Rickenbacker, etc., etc.).
Worth... not that much, comparable to a mid-price "F" style bass.
My advice, keep it, play it, enjoy. They really are underrated basses, great players, and a great sound (no, it doesn't "sound like a Ric", but it still sounds good).
