Bass Collection SGC Nanyo

I am a proud owner of a SGC Nanyo Bass Collection.
Oryginele, old, japanese and unique beauty
Almost the same as SB460 or SB611, but ...
But I do not know exactly what type, and how old is my bass.
I have a serial number 951063.
Where, on what page, in which database I can search and retrieve information on this number/guitar?

I'm a bit of a Nanyo Bass Collection nerd (my SB301 was my first "new/unused" bass, 1988...), so I may be able to help. What I can tell you is that the first 2 numbers of the serial number are the year, so it was built in 1995. The bass should also have the model/series on the back pre-amp cover plate. I've also attached a PDF copy of an old catalog, that may help identify it for you.

And if it's a SB465, I'll be very jealous... I've been looking for one of those for years!

My Baby got 4 strings.
On the back side (back pre-amp cover plate) is no type/model number - sticker is damaged.
I have serial number, but I don't no where to confirm, to get more informations.
Exist database from SGC Nanyo Bass Collection ?

That's an SB461. The SB46x series was their "top of the line" bass's and were only made for a year or two (before they went out of business). They came with either a Walnut or Padauk top, I'm not a wood expert by any means but yours looks like it has a Padauk Top. The only thing that looks odd to me is the bridge, it should be slotted not a string-through. Likely was replaced at some point, it isn't as faded as the other hardware. But that shouldn't matter, it looks like its a Gotoh.

Nice find! Padauk is a nice Top Wood, not as bright sounding as Walnut.

BC's play great, really good slapping bass's. But their electronics are "not so great".... If you like the bass and want to invest a little more for a better overall sound replace the Pickups and Pre-amp with a set of EMG PJX's and a EMG BQC Pre-Amp (easy install, no soldering). I'm not a big fan of EMG's but for these bass's they work. I have that EMG setup in my SB301 and the sound cuts through better than the Bartolini setup I put in my other Bass Collection Bass (SB330). Not that the SB330 sounds bad, it's just darker sounding with not as much bite. I have Bart's in all of my other bass's, but the BC/EMG setup is a good one.

Hi! If you are a bit of a sgc nanyo nerd, maybe you could help me? I got this bass from my aunt about 10 years ago, and the only thing I know is that she bought it used in 1986. I cant find a serial number or anything and i'm dying to figure out more about this bass. Do you know anything? (Sorry for the bad pictures)

Hi there,

I just bought this gorgeous 1995 Bass Collection SB461 in a local pawn shop (at a very low price). In fact the owner of the shop itself used to play this bass from new and put it up for sale in his own shop. Although it has its signs of use over the years, it is in surprisingly good condition. Essentially it needs a cosmetic overhaul,new strings and a good setup. I aim to pick that up in the coming weeks. Herewith some pics and a copy of the 1995n Bass Collection folder.

So I recently came across a very rare SGC Nanyo Bass Collection Bass, that I’m having trouble verifying the model.
It’s the one that, when SGC Nanyo went out of business, became the Godlyke Deity Bass.
It’s a 5 string. What makes this an exceptional find is that it’s listed as opened- NEVER USED. I’m gonna try to upload the pics from the listing. It should arrive by my birthday on the 22nd.

Looks like an SB330 series, I own a 5 string version of this. The SB330's were their high tier level until they introduced the SB4nnn series. Muse bassist Chris Wolstenholme used one of these in their early years. Great bass, body wood is "Sen" (very similar to American Ash). Has nice brass Gotoh hardware and a brass nut, gives the bass great sustain. The only issue I have with BC's is the electronics, I have 2 BC's and swapped out the pickups and pre-amps in both of them.

Get it!! You won’t be sorry!!
The SGC basses are known primarily for their lightning fast necks, and light bodies. Solid and under rated. I have a 4 string, 5 string, and the precursor model to the Godlyke Deity. Can’t say enough about these basses. They’ve been getting kind of rare to find, and if it’s in great condition, grab it!!

VERY old thread I know but I’ve just bagged a blue one of these SGC godlyke deity 5 strings.
Mint condition but has been stored somewhere a bit damp for a long time I think so just trying to get info from other owners re: controls (vol/blend/bass/treble/notch filter?) and anything else (I think ash/maple body and maple/ebony neck/board?). fascinated to know more-seems a nice bass (especially for the £500 I paid!)

Following this old thread as I just inherited a 330 fretless. An old friend and bass player left one behind and his wife asked if I’d like to have it. It’s a fretless and I have yet to see in what state it is, but it would be nice to play his bass occasionally.

I have a Godlyke bass. I have no clue what it is, was said to be a prototype. Detuner, Ghoto hardware, 6 bolt neck, possibly Ebony board. Body may be Nato? or some other Ash like wood, neck is multi lam Maple. I believe it originally had active electronics since it has a battery space. Plays great. Anyone have any clues as to it's origin?
