Can basses be modified to have thicker necks?

like say the neck of a squier classic vibe jazz bass, being replaced with a sterling ray 34 neck.


IF this is even possible, what would have to be done, and what might it cost?

If you have a Fender/ Squire you can buy a replacement Warmoth or Mighty Mite neck with the specs you desire and it will be a drop-in replacement. To go to a Musicman neck, if you can even find one, will cost more than the bass itself.
