A section mate fit it over the top and back edges of all four bouts. His bass (Arvi) has dark varnish, but if black doesn't match your bass, you can also get it in chrome.
Have you heard about the handy-dandy Warburton fan belt DB bumpers? They double as shock absorbers as well, and are practically free except for the amount of $ a bit of hyde glue that you'll need for installation will cost you.![]()
I've installed and used the type Gollihur has with no problem.
Since I'm slightly disappointed with their aesthetic quality, I asked my luthier about carving some hardwood bumpers. He dismissed the idea and pointed to the leather Gollihur-type he had for sale.
They probably function better than wooden bumpers because the offer some shock absorption with the bass contacts (hits?) the floor. But I doubt they last as long.
Stiff wood would likely pop itself off, the glue weakened by different rates of contraction-expansion between the curved bass sides and the curved bumper, or if it catches and edge.
