Bass Fuzz - Mastodon

On this track, Troy has some sick tone. I want to know what kind of tone this is considered (fuzz, overdrive, distortion?) and what kind of pedal I should get to replicate it. I have the big muff pi bass but i cant get it sounding like that, it feels like that pedal is more fuzzy then in overdrive? Its an isolated bass track. Heres the link:

Thanks!

Well I know Troy has used a Sanford and Sonny Bluebeard fuzz in the past, but I am not sure as to what he used on this...although it could definitely be a bluebeard

The sound in question is definitely a fuzz, with a lot of clean bass either double tracked or blended in.

Muff muff and more muff. I've seen one pic where he has a russian green, a civil war, a black russian, an NYC and a sanford and sonny ( a muff variant). I've seen a swollen pickle (another muff clone) in some pics as well.

The sanford and sonny is probably your best bet for getting that sound in a singlepedal, but they're nigh on impossible to get, however it's basically a GGG Tuned muff (a kit you can get from general guitar gadgets), you could buy a kit and build one yourself if you're handy with a soldering iron, or you could probably find someone on here to build the kit for you. I had one and it did a pretty good mastodon tone.

this should do it
