looking at upgrading and wanted some recommendations

currently have a peavy 450 headliner and peavy 4x10 cab
    with a sr305 ibanez bass

    band is in drop g.

wanted some recommendations for new head and bass
have had some people recommend a pod hd x, do any bass players on here use them, if so would you recommend and why?

  2. Is this your average "too loud to hear what the singer has to say" core? There's a club thread for that sort of thing if you don't mind stoner doom. It's in the "Bassists" forum.

Some of them can help you play hifi loud but not many. Generally the ones that have distaste for fidelity don't bother us in the live sound forum, but good to know what you're open to before getting too far into it.

  3. Drop G? Wow... and your strings don't just flop around? :woot: One word... Fridge. Oh, and a LOT of power!

I've seen guys that tune that low with Mesa 810's... And, it didn't sound like garbage. Maybe a SR1205 or SR1405 if you're digging Ibanez. A SR505 is also a decent one.

On the bass side of things, if you're playing in drop G you really should look into getting a 35" scale bass. An Ibanez BTB with Bartolini's or a Schecter with EMG's are a couple that come to mind that won't break the bank, sound great for what you're doing, and are easily found used in good condition. Just check GC's used site.

    Here
    It's on a 3 string bass A-D-G :)

Seriously , drop G ? Sorry for my lack of culture....
    On a 5 string with a low B ?

  8. if you are looking at basses, take a look at Spector basses....super fat, chunky sound, whilst having a really clear sound...tone is amazing...if you are looking for a particular series, i suggest the ReBop DLX5FM...this is the bass i have...

if you are then looking at anything outboard, then look at the Sansamp Bass Driver Programmable. (i have this as well)...this just enhances the sound and you can really chunk the sound, and the drive is great!!...i love it!. the other reason i love it is cos i have the 1/4" jack that i can send to the amp, and then the Built in DI to go to the PA!...
