bass help---> newbie

hi everyone, im new to this forum and to playing bass

ive bin playing for about 2 months and i have a black barracuda 4 string but i cant tell what model it is?

also, ive been thinkin of getteing either a effects pedal or a trem which would you recomend?

for the trem, im thinkin about a hipshot but ive heard that your strings break alot with a trem and your guitar doesnt stay in tune is this true?

thanks for all the help

I wouldn't get a Tremlo, you'll never use it. You might want to consider a compressor?

Why don't you snap some pics of your bass and post them up? I'm sure someone on here can help you out with identifying it.

As for the question of which to choose, trem or effects, it depends on what you want to do with your bass playing. I personally would go with neither, but that's just 'cause I'm a very straightforward bassist, no frills, just holdin' it down. What kind of music do you play (or want to play)?

A locking trem would help the tuning issues a lot and generally strings will break whether they're through a trem or not, especially bass strings.

Welcome to TB, D&C. :)
I think you'll get better responses to your questions if you post them in the appropriate forum(effects Q in effects, trem in either setup & repair or basses, the bass model question here :D). And you will hear this often- use the search function. The answers are likely out there already.
