So, I've been using IEM's for about 18 months and love 'em. Unfortunately, not everybody in my band(s) have them, so I still bring an amp for their stage monitoring... My dream is to eventually walk into a gig with my bass, my IEM's and transmitter, and my IPad running "something" that acts like my amp from a preamp/modeling/emulation standpoint... So the question is, is anybody using their IPad in this fashion yet? If so, what app are you using? What is hooked up to what? Any thoughts appreciated...
Not quite like that, but everything goes into our X32 mixer. Five (5) IEM mixes go to XLR outs 1-5 and into 4 * PSM200's and one Carvin Em900 wireless. We all mix our IEM's using the X32-Q app on iPad or iPhone. We all still have amps on stage. Guitars are mic'd, bass is Line out, and all into X32. Power up and go.
In one of my bands, four out of five of us have IEM's, so we do the same type of thing. I just want to dump my amp, too!
There's a 7 part mega thread in the effects forum for IOS bass players that has LOTS of info on using your iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch in a live setting. The guys there are very good at answering questions and explaining what their experiences are using an IOS device in this way. Just go to the effect forum and search: IOS Bass Players.
