Bass Mods, the company

I got contact with this bass guitar company my friends were telling me about. The company is called Bass Mods out of California. The guy that owns the place cut me a sweet endorsement deal on a 6string bass. Im a little iffy about a company Ive never heard of but listening to the tone of the bass off clips of youtube this bass really sounds like a high dollar bass. I currently play a 5 string warwick corvette and a 6 string Ibanez BTB 676. If anyone has any idea about this company plz feel free to leave me some info. And if anyone has ever owned this bass let me know if you did or didnt like. Also if you have played or owned a bass mods, warwick or BTB let know how you would compare the two basses that I have to the K6 Bass Mods bass. Thanks! :bassist: :bassist:

i have seen some of their stuff on ebay.
i havent heard any good or bad experiences, i know their prices are good.
(i have a set of bass mods active pbass pickups i havent used yet)

any pics or links to the 6 string mentioned in the OP?

the website is Welcome to the home of Bass Mods Basses - Sacramento, CA The bass that Im getting has Kent Armstrong U.S hand wound pickups. I have heard of these pickups before but only in the High Dollar basses. Here's pic of the bass i would like to have if i agree to a deal with this company.

I own a MOD6 and I love it. Sweet playing and sounding bass. Plays and feels like a bass that costs a lot more. Robert is a real cool dude and this is his second run of basses. Mine came from the first and I have not been disappointed. I say get one.

interesting, the knob layout and body shape reminds me of a 6-string Fodera NYC, except the headstock though.

I think that I saw a MarlowDK Youtube clip of him playing one a while back.

I should be receiving my k6 tomorrow. Getting the burst flame maple w/wenge board. I was a little reluctant as well but they look great and sound good on the clips so I ordered the last one with that make-up.

Anyone with an update on their basses? I am particualerly interested in the K6 fretless.

I asked the BassMods guys a question on their website and got a response and a video posted the same day. Great service in that respect.

Too bad they don't have a storefront where I can play one of their basses. They are only 45mins away from where I live.

I've got a MOD 7 string. I own two 7 string basses. The Mods and a Conklin Bill Dickens. I had the Conklin first and I love it though I got it used and had to have it Pleked ($200) because of high frets. Then I saw the Mods with a spalted top and HAD to own it just for the boutique look! The Mods was also used. It needed no fretwork or anything else. Plays great sounds great. And LOOKS like a MILLION!

Here's the truth: Of the two basses the Conklin sounds the best and has the most versatile tone. Of the two the Mods looks spectacular and has a really good solid bass tone. There is nothing "wrong" with the tone, it's just kind of "standard" compared to the Conklin with all the knobs and switches and stuff. The looks of the Conklin, on the other hand, are just plain old ordinary wood.

I love them both. I'd recommend either.

I have been using the bass for few months now and it is phenomenal. Lots of tone possibilities from a Jacoish to double bass spectrum. The construction is well done and solid, this thing is built to go through walls it seems and in fact the only complaint I have is the weight, nearly 12lbs. All that came stock on it is top quality and I will not change anything on it.

I have a K5 spalt top. It's a beautiful bass. Great price. Mine as the ebonol fretboard. It can be a little on the thin side for plucked notes (but the overall tone is great. Nice player, and lots of variation in the tone controls. Highly recommend.
