I would never name any of my basses, but my friend does. His Squier is named Ulrick and his Fender Special is named Basscalibur XD

I do; my Carvin LB75 is named "Chrissy," after my daughter. I also have two guitars named after her mom and her aunt.

It wasn't my idea, but I have an old German upright that is painted white and has been dubbed 'Whitey' by a friend. It just stuck.

And wouldn't you know it, when I was in the market for a MIA P, color was of no concern whatsoever and the one that felt great to me, was white. So naturally, it's been dubbed 'Lil Whitey'.

Here's a G&L L-1000 named "Whitey the Wonderlog," which has been with me since newness in 1982. Beside the obvious color thing, I think I was imagining some sort of Rin-Tin-Tin type connection... "wonder dog...?" Who knows.


I smoked a lot at the time.

I've called some of mine a few names before, when I first started. They were twins I guess because they both had the same name "POS". Cousins to some you have probably had before too.

My Inca Silver Jazz with pearl pickguard reminds me of the Silver Arrow racecars that Germany ran years ago so
shes named: GRETA which in German means "pearl"

My Wine Red Jazz with black pickguard reminds of the old Soviet Union so shes named:

My old mexi jazz bass was named by my bandmates as "The Jivesaber"...not sure where that came from.

My 5 string jazz is named "The Feng Shui Riot".

My fretless is named "Rick James Esquire", because its a Squier.

And, my P-Bass is still nameless.

My Epi EB-0's name is "Rooter"

The Jag's name fit better when I had a cream pearl pickguard and white pickup covers / knobs on it! But now the pickguard is black and hardware back to stock.

The Epi's name comes from the case I bought with it... it says "rooter"!
