Bass Neck Bowing, Need Help

So I understand that I can use one of those hexagon L key things to straighten my neck. Here is my situation:

I went to my bass teacher last week and he told me my bass neck looked horrible that its bowing pretty bad. Told me it was time to straighten it a bit.

However, people told me a bow is good. At lesssons, I play standard tuning, but when im with my band, we drop tune to D standard. People said since I drop tune, a bow is good.

So here are my questions:

1) Should I keep the bow for drop tuning?
2) Should I straighten my neck?
3) If I straighten it, should I take off my strings?

Generally you want it fairly flat. But it's actually not a bad idea to have a bit more bow (relief) than usual, if you're drop tuning, because drop tuning tends to allow the neck to straighten.

There's several basses not listed in the FAQs, but this link gives you a pretty clear understanding on the dynamics of the neck and adjusting the truss rod.
