I need some advice.

I enjoy (Stoner / Metal / Sludge / Doom)

Bands like ELECTRIC WIZARD, BLACK SABBATH, THE SWORD, SLEEP, ETC.


Can any of you guys recommend a few BASS pedals that will give me that "Zha~Zhaa" deep bass sounds & Fuzz i love so much?

BASS PEDALS ONLY PLEASE !!! :help:

Check here for pedally-doomy goodness, there are plenty of other threads devoted to this kinda stuff, so have a search and you'll do just fine. I'll also point out that a pedal doesn't need to be bass specific to work well with bass, so if that's your motivation for specifying bass pedals only, worry not. Plenty of fuzzes and such work fine with both and let through plenty of low end. Try a Blackout Musket Fuzz, Earthbound Supercollider, Way Huge Swollen Pickle or a good old EHX Bass Big Muff! :D

the TFR is indeed awesome, IMO one of the best Fuzz pedals for bass, the low end is freakin massive.

I've also had the Stache , very aggressive with the mids knob cranked, sounds nothing like the TFR. I might get another one someday but it's a very noisy pedal.

There are @#$% load of cool fuzz pedals to check out, dont limit yourself.

Mountainking Megalith does Electric Wizard Dope Throne kinda stuff really well.

I was listening to that album recently and thought 'holy crap, that sound just like a Megalith'! Probably not, but still, I fake Electric Wizard all the time with a Megalith...loudly.

But I'd recommend the Wren and Cuff TFR first and foremost.

TFR is ridonculous! Can't wait to actually own one, been mulling over fuzzes for a couple of months!

Bit out there, and nobody seems to mention it much round here, but what about the Ashdown James LoMenzo hyperdrive? I know the thing's bloody massive, but there's so much control at a good price too. Looked at a couple of vids online and it certainly sounds capable of doing the real heavy stuff.

The Hyperdrive isn't a fuzz, it's an overdrive/distortion.

It does best as a harmonic generator, adding mid-high end chime and grind to the signal.
Similar to a B3K, but not as warm sounding (similar, not the same).

Not fuzz like at all, but with the mix knob, it can indeed get heavy.

It won't sound like Electric Wizard or Sabbath.
It'll sound more like Faith No More (I know he used a Bass Drive, whatever, I use it to sound like Billy Gould).

Althought the original question was form 2010...

The Russian Big Muff, the big honkin' green one that typically is around $300 used, does wonder's for the sterner/derm sounds. Wish I still had mine; sold it last year on a moment of boredom.
Rwake bass on the "Voices Of Omens" album was all done through one, and I still get chills hearing the tone.
(The later and most recent "Rest" wasn't Big Muff bass, but still sounded pretty damn sick. In a good way, of course)
