Bass pedal reducing my volume

Hello,
I have a MXR Bass Fuzz Deluxe and I notice when I turn it off, the volume is dramatically different than when I have no pedals in the chain. The volume is a lot lower. Friends have told me this is a power problem and that I should power any pedals I have separately from where I power my amp (not sharing a power strip). Could someone confirm this or give me more info?

How you power the pedals and amp shouldn't matter (unless there's a problem with your power source), it sounds more like a problem with a cable or the pedal itself.

Yep, the BFD is "True Hardwire" bypass which I believe is their way of saying "True Bypass". When the pedal is bypassed the only things the signal passes through is the input & output jacks, stomp switch & some short lengths of wire. Once you have ruled out your patch cables you could try cleaning the input & output sockets with a cotton-tip & metho/isopropyl/denatured alcohol. You might even have a dodgy stomp switch... it's happened to me.
