bass pickups

Ok well I here all kinds of talk about people fighting over EMGHZ and humbuckers all the time and ive been playing for a year and a half and never realy payed attention to this and was curious to what the difference in EMGHZ and humbuckers right now I have a schecter elite 5 which i like its got the EMGHZ and I think it sounds awsome other then im not sure how to set all my tones and volumes and everything Thanks for any help
