Bass sound help!!!

ok so this is my first ever post. i have been struggling for at least a month to get a certain sound out of my amp for shows and recording purposes. i use a fender standard p-bass MIM and i play out of a 4x10 ampeg classic series cab and i use an ampeg svt450h head. now the kind of sound that i want to have is hard for me to explain with words so i will post this youtube video of a song by brand new so you can listen to the bass in it and hopefully help me out...

i also have three pedals that i plug into i have the boss bass overdrive odb-3 pedal and the boss limiter enhancer pedal. and some old school phaser which i dont know the name of the company. so if you could help me out that would be great :bassist:

yea i knew it was bein played with a pick but ill def try those out tomorrow... ill just use the standard knobs on the head and not mess around with extra eg settings on the amp itself

you'll probably find that you actually want to mess with the EQ on your amp and use the EQ on your bass for minor tweaks.

i agree that you need to turn your high mids up and play with a pick to get that sound.

Not really, because the initial attack is where the pick makes it's presence known. You could boost treble a bit, and use fingerstyle plucking with very low action. The clacking of the string against the frets with a light touch might approximate the picks initial attack. Very similar to fingerstyle funk players, that attack and presence is there without a pick.
