I have a Yamaha 5 String Bass...What strings should I buy, I am on a budget so please not high price but be reasonable.

This is a major factor in deciding what set of strings to buy, sometimes more important than how much they are. BUT, there are good strings out there that are relatively inexpensive. If I need strings and the cash flow is kinda tight, I usually pick up a set of D'Addarios. Especially the XL nickel plated rounds- a 5-string set of these will run you $21 on juststrings.com. I've heard good things about SIT strings as well, though I've never tried them.

I use GHS Bass Boomers on my 5-string. They're nickel-over-steel. 45-65-85-105-130 gauge.
