Bass treble pot

hello,

So I have a carvin sb5000 bass. The bass and treble pot is stacked. I'm having problems with it boosting the bass to the maximum no matter where I have it set.

For example, I'll have the pot set in the middle, but the bass is boosted to the max.

It looks like the actual pot could be lose. The bolts under the knobs and inside the preamp board are tight. The knobs are tight as well. Does this mean I have a bad pot?

also this would be the second time I've had to replace the bass treble pot. Should I ask for another board? Or get a new pot.

'bass treble'- is that like 'jumbo shrimp'? (jkg)

First take the knobs off, and make sure the shafts are turning.
Are they affecting the tone (if they are turning)?

so its the actual Pot shaft that's loose. Not the actual pot, but the shaft. Does that sound like I need to replace the entire thing? I don't see a way to tighten the shaft.

If the pot shaft is loose in the pot- not smoothly turning to the ends of its designed travel, and staying where you leave it, replace the pot,
but since it seems you may have done this before, get the best pot you can (CTS, full size for example), hopefully it'll last a lot longer.

Also, the 'board' has nothing to do with the pot issues. It should be ok.
