Bass with active pick-ups for reggae sound?

I know there's a lot of questions about how to get a reggae sound, and there's a lot of answers that say "is more about style and feeling", and i know is right but i'm now buying a new bass because i need something better than my Phil-pro.

So i need to decide between an Fender MIM V strings or an Squier Deluxe Active V strings (yeah, i want a five strings).

So i want to know if the active pick-ups in the squier gonna make hard or imposible to get that flat trebble-less sound that i gotted from my old bass. I want to play other genres as well but, i know that with any of the basses i can get the proper tone, so i really want to know if i can get that reggae sound with the squier because the price is lowest than the MIM and i don't see really that much diference in sound and comfort.

I know that if i use flats it would be good for get the tone i want, but i want to get it with rounds like i did with my other bass.

They've got active preamps, not active pickups. Which means you'd at least be able to boost lows/highs. If it's a boost/cut preamp, then you'd be able to cut as well. The listings I can find don't say whether it's boost/cut or boost only, but it does say that it's a 3 band EQ...so you've got controls for lows/mids/highs.

If you've already tried the basses, did you attempt to get the sound you're going for?

No i try it but not for so long, i gonna go tomorrow to try it again with a friend and if i can i'll buy it, so i need to decide on one.

But my real question is that i heard that active basses catch a lot of sound like the clicking of the strings on the frets and a lot of buzz, is that true?

I mean, actives basses sounds louder and catch more noise than passives or is just that they have a preamp?
