Sigh... we couldn't even rent larger equipment so we didn't look like we were trying to confuse our fans? Or a drum riser? Plywood is cheap, but If you are really in a crunch, easy to steal.

I did stupid, shameful things when i was that age too, but I'm pretty sure there would have been a little voice int he back of my head saying "this is just too dumb for words".

Quite the opposite. What humankind has accomplished through technology is the ability for the stupid to not only survive, but thrive. Put 99.9% of the people in the world actually out into the world, and it'll eat them up pretty quickly. Where would they be without all of the infrastructure that's pretty much taken for granted? Drop somebody off into the wilderness with only their wits and a knife, then see how they're doing after a week.

In an earlier epoch, the stupid would quickly be killed and eaten by wild beasts. Nowadays they breed like bunnies.

I think one thing that people forget about natural selection is that behavior is something that can be selected for or against. Humanity experienced a population explosion as we began protecting our stupid and working as a community (also, sanitation, regulated justice, medicine, science).

Because we lack the ability to see exactly what another reality would be like with a slightly different set of circumstances (like stupidity being a behavior that is selected against, strongly), we cannot accurately say that we would be doing better.

Hence, lets make the best of what we have and quit face palming over the fate of human evolution.
