I saw Jaco many times live in NYC back in the 80's, and even got to jam with him once. He would often jump on the piano or drums and play something during his sets. He could also get around on guitar too. The night I jammed with him he played my guitarist's guitar and performed, "Third Stone from the Sun."

Richard Bona- As far as I know he plays Nylon & Steel Guitar + various kind of Percussions as could be seen in Pat Metheny "Speaking Of Now" Live DVD.

I do believe that in the same way it is possible to play "decent" rock bass without knowing a lot of theory it’s also possible to play decent keys or guitar without knowing a lot of theory (yeah, basic major or minor chords, 1-4-5 progressions. But which kind of accompaniment are you going to invent?

But the fact is that if you’re a true musician who’s been able to master one instrument, you probably going to learn and master other instruments pretty quickly.

I'd consider Russ Freeman to be a 'bassist / multi-instrumentalist'. If you listen to the bass lines that Russ has composed for the Rippingtons, you'd understand. He plays wonderful nylon string guitar and keyboards as well as composing very interesting bass lines.

Bass always has been and always will be my first love, I don't doubt my ability to be hired as a bassist for a given genre or situation.

Although...... I've been paid to sing and play keyboards as well. Musicians & friends have encouraged my vocal and keyboard abilities.

I somewhat agree. He is a guitarist first and foremost. He also does a fair bit of programming. Some of his tunes have basslines that are almost impossible to play live bass on. Kim Stone did a great job keeping up though!

I play keyboards as well as bass. I dabble in drums but since I've never owned a drumset, those skills are very basic!

If you take 'bassist' out of the equation, Arturo Sandoval is a fantastic multi-instrumentalist! He kills not only on Trumpet but also on Piano, Percussion and Bass!

Flea - bass, upright, melodica, trumpet, vocals

Edit:
Not to put myself in the same paragraph as these two heavyweights, but I play bass mostly but I think I'm fairy decent at mandolin, guitar, and baritone guitar.
