IME, the Faital is like the JBL 2226 except a little brighter and possible to tune to get better and tighter low end. Cabinet dependent of course.

Other than celestion and Faital, I think Jensen are made in Italy? That might be cheaper for you. C15n might work. Hmm what other euro speaker companies are there?

I would recone the existing D-140's myself, and for this application a pair of D-130F's would be another possible choice.

Reading what I wrote came out a little wrong. Though I would recone my own D-140's, the English language being what it is might lead folks to think I suggested reconing his D-140's himself. In fact, this is a driver that's best reconed by an experienced old fart, one who can handle working with tight tolerances. Also, due to the shallow cone, there's not much room to work.

I'm really happy with my Eminence CB158's. They sound great in nearly any 15 cab regardless of size.
