Bought a 2002 Lakland 4402 last fall and love it so much except I'm going broke on batteries. I was going to try a new jack until I looked at the current jack wiring which revealed that the battery ground was wired to the sleeve along with a wire to the Bartolini metal loop. The ring had the bridge ground wired to it. I said uh-uh and looked up the Bart NTMB schematic and wired the battery ground to the ring by itself and both grounds to the sleeve leaving the tip wired to the green wire. It seems like its working great and I've also got some false euphoria going that it sounds better (not drinking at all yet) and just wondered if this sounds correct to anyone with a reasonable level of wiring experience? I'll probably know in a week or so and don't want to drop another $7 advanced Duracell in there till I have some feeling I'm on the right track. Read a bunch of other battery drain posts and thought maybe it was time for a fresh battery problem post.
