Battery Drain

I know this is a dumb question but I need to know...

If I use a 9 volt to power my Boss pedal will leaving the 1/4 inch cable plugged into the input drain the battery?

Dumb answer: lol, I dunno.

But seriously, yes, it will. Unplug it when not in use, or get a power supply. Just to experiment, one time I left a bunch of my pedals plugged in with batteries in them to see how long it would take to kill them, sitting unused. Seemed like each of them lasted about two full days if I remember correctly, which I don't.

What if I have a small (2 inch) 'L' adpater plugged into the input? Is that not just really an extension of the input?

I have to use the L adapter in order to make everything fit on my DIY board properly.

If you use an external power adapter it will bypass battery entirely & will not drain batteries. At least on the boss pedals.

I'm aware of that. I'm trying to minimize cords, powerbars etc as much as possible. The pedals wont be used all the time. One is a Boss TU and the other is a behringer adi21 used when I play with a pick, which might be 4 songs on the set list.

i belive that even though it may only be an extension, as it is actually plugged in it will still use up the battery. With just the extension in, if you can still turn thepedal on it will be using battery power.

There is no doubt in my mind. If you tend to use it and would rather leave it plugged in, take the battery out and get a power supply for it why dontcha?
