BBE Maximizer hookup?

I have a BBE Sonic Maximizer that is in the rack but not being used until now. Should this be first in line or the last thing before the amp?
My inline series goes like this from bass to:
Korg DTR 1000 tuner because it has a mute button,
then in to a Sansamp RPM
Then in to BBE 362 Sonic Maximizer
Then in to Ampeg B2-RE amp
Then to speaker cab

It's working now but is this the way it should be?

At least thats how i run mine. For me, i like having it enhance my overall tone; post-eg. when you run it last in the chain into the amplifier you run it pre-eq and then end up eq'ing it with your amplifier.

how about getting a 4-space rack, going tuner-->sansamp--> power amp in of ampeg, and leaving the rest of that mess out?

it'll probably sound better in a real-world band mix, and you won't hate lugging a big giant rack around.

(the next step after completing a monster rack with all the compressors, maximizers, power conditioners and all that is usually to decide to pick up a micro amp head "just for the quick grab-and-go gigs", at which point the monster rack never leaves the house again )

I had a SM in my rack for a long time. I took it out and it now rides in the main PA rack. I didn't get rid of it because of the weight though ( I now gig with an SVT and an 810). I unplugged it one day and it sounded better.

try that test again with your PA system, and you might come to the same conclusion!

sonic maximizers on sound gear are like salt on food; if the food's bland and yucky, salt at least makes it palatable; if the food's good and seasoned just right, adding salt ruins it.

Yeah, after one day of playing with it, I think it is coming out, I loose mid punch and definition. I run the sansamp in place of the Ampeg front preamp controls, less noise.
I hear what they do and think it would be good in a recording situation, guitar or to warm a mic kinda like a tube preamp, acoustic guitar recording for sure.

Glad to see someone eventually posted what I didn't want to as the first one to reply when I saw the old question once again .

Other than as an occasional effect, we didn't find any use for it back in the day.
Not in a rig.
Not in FOH.
Not in studio.
Haven't tried one in ages, but from what I remember, I doubt that my view has changed much.

Use in the effects loop of your bass amp or mains insert of your mixer...if used at all. I use a 362 (?) between the Aux 1 & 2 sends and monitor amp / monitors. It does help in that particular application.
