What are the chances and predicted results of using my bbe like a preamp and running it into a isp1600?

BBE Sonic Maximizer into power amp

I know a guy that does exactly that. it is a rack version of the BBE but basically the same deal with the one knob. He does use an active bass though, not sure a passive would have enough juice to push it.
The Sonic Max doesn't really have any gain structure to speak of. So, although you will get some volume out of the power amp via your bass and the SM, having a dedicated preamplifier will really help push your signal through.
The rack-mounted SM units (like most rack-mount signal processors) are designed to operate at line level (post-preamp). Unless your bass is pushing a really hot signal, I doubt it would be very effective.
