Hi TB, Up for sale is my recently acquired BC Rich Mockingbird Bass. It's a joy to play, but I just know it's not for me. This is an early 80's model and is all original aside from the finish. Bass looks much better than I had anticipated when I got it, as I did plan to refinish it, but I don't think it needs it at all. Dimarzio pickups and all electronics work. Still plays great and looks killer. Will ship in a nice Fender tweed gig bag. Open to all offers! $800 shipped to the lower 48
Here are mods/issues this bass has. - The finish has been stripped but looks nice in person. I had planned on getting it refinished, but I only will now if it does not sell. - The bridge has been routed into the body to facilitate very low action and solid setups. Not the cleanest job, but not the worst by far. If you were not looking for it, you probably would not see it. The action can basically be set where ever you like now. - Grover tuner on the treble side has the middle screw top sheered off. No effect on the tuning stability or the tuner. - The serial number is missing due to the finish being stripped. - Low output from the Jazz pickup. I will get this sorted before it goes to its new owner. Everything else works perfectly, and honestly, it sounds great as is.
I really dig the look of this one. I have plenty of them already but I’ll absolutely tell others that this is a fantastic deal on one of these. GLWTS
This looks killer with that natural finish! What is the neck profile like on this? And is the truss rod still functional?
Truss rid is completely functional, with no issues. The neck profile is very much P-Bass which I enjoy on this one as it feels substantial, but not like a baseball bat. The satin feel on the back of the neck is a big plus.
Serial number has been located on the back of the headstock after more research. It is very faint but the first three numbers are 888 which dates this bass as an 84-85.
That is amazing control...reminds me of an old Alembic bass I read about where the designer commented "what the hell were we thinking?" - might have been McVie's bass...My opinion - seems like a great bass for a tone-hound...talk about fine tuning! It is beautiful!
Um...still working on it. It looks like I'll have to post more stuff for sale. --BUT--I'll be out of town for at least a week.
